biography

a ritual with dance and music for all ages

A handmade carcass of the mythical feathered serpent Quetzalcóatl, brought to life during the second edition of Día de Muertos in les Marolles. From 2019 till 2021, it popped up as a mobile installation on festivals and parades. Prior to each performance, children and neighbourhood residents could participate at workshops around percussion, voice, costumes and masks to accompany the snake. At every occasion, the serpent and its carriers dragged the crowd along in a ritual and family dance.

In the autumn of 2019, children from local schools in les Marolles crafted a giant carcass of the Aztec serpent Quetzalcóatl for the annual Día de Muertos. They worked together with resident artistsVirginie Raimondo and Guillaume Gagneur from the CEC les Mercredis Artistiques and Manon and Sarah Brulé.

The following years, the serpent danced its way to BOZAR for the Big Bang Festival, through the streets and parcs of Brussels during StaycationBXL 2020 and to Ghent and Antwerp as part of the NOMAD project by Zonzo Compagnie in 2021.
