Mâäk Kojo was an exciting voodoo-jazz and dance project with roots in Brussels and Benin. An encounter between two families of musicians: on the one hand the Mâäk collective around Laurent Blondiau (BE), on the other hand the Anagoko family (BEN). They fused their repertoires and cultural traditions, resulting in a fascinating dialogue between Western jazz and voodoo-trance from West-Africa.

Each time they performed together, an organic, common language originated. The compositions, with orchestrations going from duo to tutti, were very spontaneous and improvised but also orchestrated: each element had its precise, melodic, harmonic and rhythmic functions.
Mâäk Kojo went on tour in 2010, 2012 and 2018 in the light of 20 years Mâäk.
