biography

Gnawa Brass band

Remork & Karkaba is a unique fanfare consisting of a wind section combined with Moroccan gnawa percussion. These enthusiastic musicians know how to set up a (street) party in no time. They effortlessly drag young and old out of their comfort zone with sturdy brass band riffs, generously scattered around gnawa percussion and dance.

The group plays a mix of traditional Moroccan songs and original compositions by Luc Mishalle. The wind instrument players of Remork go hand in hand with Karkaba, the training program for gnawa percussion, singing and dance by mâalem Driss Filali and Mohamed Saïd Akasri. Together, they continualy renew their repertoire and line up thanks to various collaborations, such as the Hoofdstedelijke Muziekacademie in Brussels or philharmonic orchestras from all over Belgium.
