Banda Quetzal, BRUiTAL and Remork & Karkaba are getting ready to pack their bags! This summer, they’ll be performing in France, the Netherlands, Spain and even Morocco. But of course you’ll also be able to see them up close in Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia. Here’s a brief overview of all their gigs; we’ll tell you more soon about the travel plans of our young musicians from Fanfakids and Strak-X!

Banda Quetzal goes to Spain, France and the Netherlands

Isra Alonso and his Son Mexicano brass band are gearing up for a busy summer schedule. They will kick things off in style at the Haizetara International Street Music Contest in Amorebieta-Etxano, in the Basque Country (ESP). From 19 to 21 June, they will compete against nine other groups from countries including Italy, France, Hungary and Spain.

Heading to southern Europe, they will also be performing at Bois Frileux in Saint-Julien-du-Sault (FRA). After that, you can catch them in and around Brussels at the Fiel Festival in Asse and at Nayad, a new street theatre festival in Ixelles. And after the summer holidays, they will also be performing at the Umunsi Wereldfeest in Kruibeke and at the Festival en V(r)ille in La Louvière.

BRUiTAL off to Maastricht via Tournai, Tongeren and Brussels

Our band of underground noise-makers is touring from the South to the North(East) of Belgium, even extending its intriguing soundscape to the Netherlands. In particular, they will be celebrating the summer solstice at Faites du Feu, a multidisciplinary festival in Tournai where traditional rituals centred around the Midsummer bonfires are complemented by contemporary artistic creations. They will then head to Maastricht for the Bonnefanten Museum’s Free Days. And they will also be performing with their fellow percussionists from DROM at the MoMeNT Festival in Tongeren.

Remork & Karkaba travel across Brussels and Morocco

This September, Luc Mishalle and Maâlem Driss Filali will travel to Casablanca to work on the Remork & Karkaba repertoire during a residency with local gnawa musicians. They will then be joined by other members of the band to perform together at the L’Boulevard Festival and the Villa des Arts in Rabat. All this is in collaboration with the Centre culturel Les Étoiles de Sidi Moumen and the Wallonia-Brussels General Delegation in Morocco. Those who want to wish them a safe journey can still catch them at summer concerts in Molenbeek, Forest and Ganshoren.
