Fanfakids and Strak-X summer trips

Our young people from Fanfakids and Strak-X are spending a large part of the summer abroad! They’ll be travelling to Morocco, Spain, France and Hungary as part of Erasmus+ exchanges and the RRRRRumba International project. Here’s an overview of their trips over the coming months:

Strak-X @ Erasmus+ Marokko

6-16/07 Centre culturel Les Étoiles de Sidi Moumen - Casablanca (MAR)

Around ten young people from our teenage percussion group Strak-X are heading to Morocco in July for an Erasmus+ exchange with their peers in Casablanca. From 6 July, they will be working on both groups’ repertoires. A collaboration with Le Centre culturel Les Étoiles de Sidi Moumen and the Délégation Générale Wallonie-Bruxelles au Maroc.

Fanfakids @ RRRRRumba International

9-14/07 Barcelona (ESP) & 14-19/07 Perpignan (FRA)

In mid-July, the Fanfakids will be travelling to Spain and France for 10 days to mark the launch of RRRRRumba International. This project celebrates the vibrant Rumba heritage alongside young musicians from Brussels, Barcelona and Perpignan during festivals in the three different cities. The first celebration will take place from 9 to 14 July in Barcelona, the second will follow from 14 to 19 July in Perpignan, and the final one will be held in the summer of 2027 in Brussels. This multi-year project also serves as the artistic lead-up to ‘Poseidos par la Rumba’, a concept proposal for a living, ritual procession that aims to bring the intercontinental heart of Rumba music to life during the Zinneke Parade in 2028. Fanfakids @ Erasmus+ Babelcamp

26/07-2/08 Balatonboglar (HUN)

At the end of July, a group of teenagers involved as volunteers with the Fanfakids and Tarmacadam groups will travel to Hungary for a follow-up to the first exchange held last April. Together with children from Erasmus+ partners Farside in Athens (GRE) and Babelcamp in Balatonboglar (HUN), they will explore the possibility of developing a new music project during joint rehearsals and groove sessions.
