This school year again, many children and teens are coming to let off some steam at MetX by showing off their coolest beats and dance moves. Through workshops held in schools, cultural centers and at MetX, they can try their hand at disciplines such as percussion and trumpet (Fanfakids), breakdancing (UCB Crew), or beatboxing (FootboxG). And those who want to, can also play music and dance at concerts by our youth groups and at events like Kunstendag voor Kinderen.

Are your children between the ages of 6 and 12 and eager to learn how to play the Fanfakids rhythms? Sign them up for one of our workshops led by Bart Nagels in Molenbeek or by Jalel Vangoethem in Brussels City. Those who show talent may even, over time, join our youth band to perform at concerts throughout Belgium and beyond!

Does your child play the trumpet or another wind instrument? If so, he or she can also come play in a group with the Fanfakids! Registration for our Wednesday afternoon workshops with Yahya Choua is currently full. But please let us know if your child would like to be added to the waiting list. We’ll keep you informed as soon as a spot opens up in the workshops or at other events so they can come play with us!

Percussion teenagers
At Strak-X, young people ages 12 and up can learn percussive grooves inspired by the festive rhythms of Latin America and the Caribbean. Originally founded by about ten young people who had proven themselves with the Fanfakids, the group is currently focusing on collaborations with the GO! Atheneum Caroline Pauwels and the Freinet Keerpunt School in Molenbeek. Starting in 2027, they plan to relaunch the open workshops at MetX.

Children ages 6 and up who are passionate about urban dance can participate in our breakdance workshops led by Greg Lox, Carlo Papa, and Noé Fusu (Urban Center Brussel). Teens who want to further develop their skills to the live music of our artists can then join the UCB Crew to perform on stage.

If you enjoy creating rhythms with your voice, come learn beatboxing with Tim Van Droogenbroeck, also known as FootboxG. Crowned world champion in 2023, Tim is one of Belgium’s most talented beatboxers and excited to share his expertise with young people in Brussels ages 8 and up.
